Mitigating Greenwashing Practices in the Fashion Industry: Assessing the Effectiveness of the New EU Green Claims Directive A Case Study of Primark
Obadia, Lucy ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Arregui Moreno, Francisco Javier (referee)
Greenwashing, a prevalent phenomenon within the fashion industry, continues to pose significant challenges. Recognising the severity of this problem, the European Union (EU) has emphasised the need to safeguard consumers against misleading practices. This thesis critically analyses the impact of the EU's initiative to regulate greenwashing practices and evaluate the effectiveness of the New Green Claims Directive in the context of the fashion industry. By adopting a consumer perspective, this research explores the Directive's coverage of greenwashing practices and assesses its real-world efficacy. Employing a comprehensive approach, this study examines the implementation of the Directive through a case study of Primark's sustainability claims. Scrutinising the company's practices, it sheds light on the greenwashing tactics that the Directive may have overlooked. Through this examination, the research seeks to contribute to the existing literature by assessing the effectiveness of green claims and the potential impact of the EU Green Claims Directives. The findings of this study underscore the significance of the fashion industry's lack of stable regulations in combatting greenwashing. The analysis reveals the complexities associated with regulating misleading practices and highlights the need for...
Strategic Communications of Sustainable Urban Mobility Topics
Běnek, Ondřej ; Koudelková, Petra (advisor) ; Vranka, Marek (referee)
| DT Strategic Communication of Sustainable Urban Mobility Topics | Běnek The aim of the thesis is to describe and define the type and themes of communication and good practice of procedures and approaches that are effective in gaining support forsustainable (especially urban) mobility in the context of institutional strategic communication in the Czech/European context. This creates a suitable theoretical framework for strategy development at the municipal level and gives officials, practitioners, and politicians a tool that will enable them to use strategic communication effectively to improve living conditions in cities. It also discusses thefield of strategic communication as a tool for promoting sustainable transport, particularly from an institutional perspective, and describes the communication of change, the stakeholders involved, and the topics to be communicated. The...
Alternative and renewable energy policy in Europe
Orujov, Faig ; Ščasný, Milan (advisor) ; Střítecký, Vít (referee)
Driven by the fact that the global oil market has become extremely volatile and the EU dependence on oil continues to grow, this paper argues that with more emphasis on renewable energy and by using domestically produced alternative energy sources instead of importing foreign oil the EU Member States would drastically improve their energy security and energy independence. The study investigates both past and present trends in the EU energy sources supply and consumption patterns. Additionally, the paper considers possibilities of the renewable and alternative energy both at the current stage and future development of this sector in the EU. The research findings confirm the initial hypothesis as to whether the share of alternative and renewable energy will be sufficiently large to contribute to solving a problem of the EU energy security and independency. The role of the renewables in national energy security strategies of three EU Member States is studied and government supporting policies that enhance renewable sources development are analyzed.
Local Development and Policies of Protectionism
Bělohradský, Aleš ; Benáček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Želinský, Tomáš (referee)
Economic situation in the Central Europe is to a big extent influenced by the disparities between core regions (mostly the capitals) and the rest. If the gap between cores and peripheries is still widening, local governments of peripheral regions must come up with policies to protect their economies from the globalised world. This basic statement is examined in this work using two different methods: regionalised input-output analysis (for Czech regions) trying to discover structural differences between regions and its implications, and NEG equilibrium simulation method examining agglomeration forces in the Central Europe and evaluating possible outcomes of protective policies in terms of NTBs (limiting the openness). The results confirm the agglomeration tendencies and suggest mainly two ways of effective policies: regional specialisation and investments into infrastructure, which would lower the transaction costs within the peripheral regions. NEG simulation method has serious limits due to the problematic calibration. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Assessment of the contemporary asylum and integration policy in Slovakia
Weberová, Zuzana ; Janská, Eva (advisor) ; Murad, Salim (referee)
Asylum and integration policies are important components of a country's migration policy. Firstly because of their very nature, as they deal with international protection and integration of foreigners into society. However, as it is indicated in this thesis, the functioning of these policies may affect not only how asylum or integration processes are taking place after the foreigners cross the country's borders but it may to some extent influence who comes into the country. This can be caused by how the country is perceived and whether people will consider it a suitable "refuge" and seek asylum there. Also, governments can determine how many people will come to their territory based on various relocation mechanisms. In order to understand the impact and functioning of asylum and integration policies, it is necessary to explore their different levels: discourse, policy on paper and its real implementation. This thesis describes how these levels interact and influence each other. Studying these three policy lines is especially interesting today because the phenomenon of migration was not significant for the public in Slovakia until a few years ago, but in 2015, with the culmination of the so-called migration crisis, it became one of the most important issues in Slovakia, despite the fact that the...

Design and implementation of security policies in the enterprise
Turecký, Zdeněk ; Bruckner, Tomáš (advisor) ; Vojtíšek, Vladimír (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with unnecessary user rights in an enterprise. It judges their necessity and subsequent restrictions. At the beginning of the thesis are described two basic types of threats and business tools that help to prevent them. Further is introduced the specific company, where the analysis of current state of user rights is made. On its basis are created group policies, which are then implemented across enterprise infrastructure. Afterwards all problems, that appeared during the implementation or after that are commented and solved. Finally the new state is compared to the original one and some options how to expand this thesis are listed.
